David Paperny
President
Starting in 1983, fresh off a Master's Degree from the Annenberg School of Communications, David began his career producing Current Affairs programmes at CBC Television. David co-founded Paperny Films in 1994, shortly after his documentary on a young doctor dying of AIDS was nominated for an Academy Award®. Over the years, under David's leadership, Paperny Films has become one of the preeminent television production companies in Canada.

Audrey Mehler
Partner, Producer, Director
Audrey is a Founding Director of Paperny Films who has helped build the company into the well-respected, world-renowned creator of distinctive television that it is today. Since 1994 when she and David Paperny launched the company, Audrey has written, produced and directed award-winning documentary programmes and series including The Boys of Buchenwald, The Life and Times of Dr. Henry Morgentaler, To Love, Honour and Obey, KINK, and The Blonde Mystique. In her various roles in Development and Production, Audrey looks forward to further growth and expansion.

Cal Shumiatcher
Partner, Executive Producer
Cal is a versatile, award-winning producer with over 20 years experience working in both fiction and non-fiction genres. Cal’s range of production experience includes everything from feature films to series television. Cal’s dramatic production credits include The Chris Isaak Show, Beggars and Choosers and the feature film Saved. At Paperny Films, Cal oversees all production. He is also actively involved in the creation and development of new projects, including drama and new media opportunities.
