Just finished watching "Love Shines" and absolutely loved it!!
Love Shines—directed by Douglas Arrowsmith—follows Canadian songwriter Ron Sexsmith as he lays everything on the line to make a hit album. The curtain is pulled back for a rare glimpse inside the studio process as Sexsmith teams up with legendary producer Bob Rock (Metallica, Bon Jovi, Mötley Crüe). But will this be enough? Sexsmith dreams of emerging with a song that achieves commercial radio play, but the journey with Rock also turns introspective. Through a series of flashbacks the songwriter confronts the meaning of success, weighing the lure of stardom against the humble beginnings that sparked the ‘birth’ of his songs. Punctuated by Super 8 footage chronicling the early years, an extraordinary playlist and a stellar cast featuring Elvis Costello, Steve Earle, Feist, Kiefer Sutherland and Daniel Lanois, Love Shines is a journey to the heart and soul of what songwriting is truly about.

Just watched "Love Shines" on HBO and if it's possible, I'm now an even bigger fan! Beautiful!
Bravo Ron. Thanks for letting us into your world with this film. Your music has a huge impact on me. Rock on!
Ok, this comes from a chick who spends most of her time on writing or photography and in general, watches very little TV...but come on, it's Love Shines...had to phone up today and order the $17 a month package just so I could see the movie again...still seemed like a bargain to me. While on the phone with the customer service rep for Shaw TV, I told her why I was ordering the package - she hadn't heard of Ron, haaa, but due to my enthusiasm, she has promised to watch Love Shines tonight and is phoning a musician friend of hers, to tell him to watch. I think it's pretty safe to say, that's another 2 fans that Ron and the Love Shines gang can add to their list. It's starting to feel like that old shampoo commercial...'they told 2 friends, and then they told 2 friends and so on and so on....!
