With the Toronto Premiere at Hot Docs a little over a month away (May 6th, 7th, & 8th, 2011), the love keeps pouring in for the Ron Sexsmith Documentary, Love Shines.
Like millions of others, I was drawn to the devastating pictures from Japan this weekend. News sites on the internet provided coverage faster than newspapers or daily news broadcasts. This time the story unfolded, almost in real time, to the rest of the world.
For those of you not familiar with Ron Sexsmith, he is considered by many musicians and music fans to be a Canadian treasure with a rare gift and talent for song writing. Despite this, Ron is also considered to be one of the unsung heroes and hidden talents on the music scene.
Seems there’s no money in renting DVDs and Blu-ray discs anymore. People are watching streaming video on services like Netflix or (shudder) downloading films on bit torrent sites. This is sad news for those of us in the content creation business. I’m going to get a little geeky here to explain why.
