Finally, I've gone bi-coastal. It happened at midnight last night. A colleague drives me thru the Holland Tunnel into Manhattan and up to Chelsea. She warns me to watch out for my camera – "you're on the mean streets of New York now" – as she drops me off at the apartment building where Paperny Entertainment has set up our second home.
NY roomie Aynsley buzzes me in, opens the apartment door and heads right back to bed. And there it is – beautifully furnished in the latest from Ikea (a weekend of back-breaking Allen key work by Aynsley and her husband Tim). The sofa bed's ready for me.
I literally have to pinch myself – it's happening.
I unpack and hook up the modem Troy gave me. Ahh, the wireless greenlight flashes on. Lift off. I work to still my beating heart so I can get to bed – it's already 2am NY time and I know Aynsley will be up and hard at work writing in just a few hours. And there's a big day ahead of me in the morning.
